As the year draws to a close, a big thanks to our many readers, subscribers, and commenters. It’s been a year of changes at The Briefing, and we’re hugely grateful for all the encouragement and interaction and support we’ve received. Keep it coming in 2012!
Speaking of next year, there are two job opportunities coming up at Matthias Media, starting early next year. If you know someone who might be suitable, please spread the word.

Here are the details:
Commissioning Editor
Matthias Media is looking for an experienced and motivated person to join our team as a Commissioning Editor starting in February 2012.
The Commissioning Editor will report to the Publishing Director (Tony Payne) and be responsible for:
- following up leads and commissioning new books and resources
- assessing unsolicited manuscripts/projects
- working with authors to improve their manuscripts
- editing manuscripts
- signing off on design and editorial decisions
You could be the right person for this position if:
- you are an experienced editor with a proven track record in producing high quality content to a deadline
- you are creative, and have an eye for what works in publishing
- you are self-motivated and can work well in a small team
- you are a theologically astute Reformed-evangelical Christian who can wholeheartedly sign our ‘Gospel Convictions’ statement. Formal theological qualifications, even if not to degree level, would be an advantage.
In 2012, this will be a 3-day per week position. Salary is expected to be around $36,000 plus super (= $60K full-time), depending on level of experience.

Staff Editor (The Briefing)
Matthias Media is looking for an experienced editor to join our Briefing team as Staff Editor starting in March 2012.
The Staff Editor will report to the Briefing Editor (Sam Freney) and be responsible for:
- logging and tracking commissions and unsolicited manuscripts
- sub-editing articles (including approving changes with authors)
- working closely with the designer on the layout of each edition
- overseeing the proofing and final checking of each edition
- checking and uploading articles to The Briefing website
You could be the right person for this position if:
- you are an experienced editor with a proven track record in working at a high standard to deadlines
- you are highly organized and have an eye for detail
- you are self-motivated and can work well in a small team
- you are a Reformed-evangelical Christian who can wholeheartedly sign our ‘Gospel Convictions’ statement.
In 2012, this will be a 2-day per week position. Salary is expected to be around $20,000 plus super (= $50K full-time), depending on level of experience.
